Sep. 24th, 2004 09:26 pmShe opens the door and glides into her room, then halts in surprise. While she was downstairs, some changes had been made.
The bed is against the wall, and a small table and two chairs are beside it. A lamp stands upon the table, and a waterglass next to it holds two blue flowers and a sprig of rosemary entwined with amaranth. All of these things are as Moiraine left them, and so are expected.
What is different, however, is the addition of a vanity against the other wall, as well as the presence of three dresses lying on the bed.
Moiraine sighs. "Morpheus. I cannot think who else it could be." She glances at the bracelet on her wrist. It seems apparent that based on their earlier conversation, Dream has seen fit to provide these additional gifts as well.
Embarrassed pride wars for a few moments with amused delight, until she finally smiles, accepting it. Moiraine crosses the room and studies the dresses more closely. Two are of the finest wool, and one is of silk. All three are in shades of blue and styles that are familiar to her from her own world; it also appears that all three will fit her perfectly, which somehow does not surprise her at all.
She hangs them up, then sits down at the vanity and begins to brush out her hair, smiling. "With every day that passes, Milliways becomes more pleasant. I had never thought it, never expected it, but I am really quite happy here..."
She freezes at the thought. Happy she may be, but simple contentment is not allowed, not for her, not yet. There is war in her world, and she knows from talking with Rand that time passes for them both. Tarmon Gai'don draws ever closer, and she has a cause that cannot be denied, and a duty that must be fulfilled.
Moiraine studies herself in the mirror. "I am unable to leave, and yet Rand cannot keep coming here. I will speak again with Cordelia, and with others. I am Bound, but there must be a way to depart. I must find a way."
Softly, she breathes a quiet, desperate plea. "Light send I am able to do so before I cannot bring myself to go..."
