Dark eyes widen in visible surprise, and then as he speaks, she becomes utterly still. It is not the first time that they have discussed matters of aid to be exchanged back and forth between them, far from it-- indeed, by now they have come to something of an understanding as allies who share the same cause, even if not the same world.

And yet, Moiraine is perfectly well aware that Merriman Lyon would never make such a request of her as this, were the need not severe.

You have a war of your own to fight - that must take priority. I would not wish it otherwise.

For a long moment the two of them form something of an odd tableau-- the tall man with the hawk-like countenance who seems almost to tower as he stands before her, displaying a subtle intensity that echoes even through the stark words of protocol, and the small, slender woman who remains composed and seated, looking up at him with no sign of her thoughts visible on her ageless, serene face.

And then, a faint, weary smile touches her lips, and Moiraine holds out her hand to him.

"I will do what I may, and all that I can-- including this, if it is indeed possible. On that, you have my word. Now take your seat again, Merriman, and let us figure out what may be, and how it is to be accomplished."
