Dec. 10th, 2005 07:43 pmIt has been a few days since her concern had driven her to the Garden of Destiny. A few days, no more -- and yet events have passed swiftly, even as Destiny had said they would.
There is a silence in her mind where she had become accustomed to the whispering dry rustle of turning pages, when she had listened. She can feel the strain on the Pattern of her world, even as she fights to throw it all the support that she can. Ever mindful of the shape of the sphere, ever-mindful of the weave: memory is all that is left, and she will not fail in this.
She is but mortal, and has nothing but diamond-hard determination. Light willing, it will be enough.
Moiraine paces her deliberately-isolated room, thinking. The fighting outside has quieted for the evening, and "Syrenne" is not needed to attend upon Elayne until sometime after dawn.
It is worth the risk. A moment, to listen and extend her senses, checking for the presence of others, and then the Aes Sedai vanishes.
