Sep. 18th, 2005 07:42 pmMoiraine walks the halls of the castle in the Dreaming, past windows of stained glass and light. It is not an aimless meandering, however; the Aes Sedai has a destination in mind. As she glides over the roughened stone floor, lost in deep thought, her expression changes, becoming more distant and less human-- not unlike a marble statue. She is not yet aware of the subtle change, although it has been happening more and more often, under certain circumstances.
"I done you a favor. You married to one of the Endless. Come down to it, Ka's your brotha-in-law. Can you find out how steep this bill gonna be?"
Susannah Dean had asked that, and she had complied with the request. She knows, deep within that part of herself that is quite save for the faint whisper of turning pages, that it is not yet over. That there are choices to be made, and changeable paths that will arise from those choices. Still, her interest is drawn now, and she goes unerringly, guided by an inner knowledge.
She arrives at the Library and there pauses, waiting, head tilted as though she is listening for something. Her glance flits over the shelves here in this Library where every book dreamed and unwritten may be found, seeking... something.
As she waits, there is a bright flash from one shelf. Moiraine moves swiftly to it, taking down the book -- the book that is suddenly more real to her, more of a weight in her hand that it might otherwise be. No longer dreamed and unwritten, this tale has been made manifest, somehow. She suspects she knows how.
The Aes Sedai sits down in a nearby chair and begins to study Brothers in Arms, by Eddie Toren.
